4/1 – 4/7
We kicked off our 2024 whale watching season this weekend, and we had a great start with killer whale encounters on both trips, and a bonus gray whale encounter on Saturday’s tour.
On Saturday’s tour, we met up with the T101 and T100 families of killer whales out in the strait of Juan de Fuca. They were cruising east and we got some great looks at them in flat calm water! On Sunday’s trip we were heading south in Saratoga passage towards a gray whale report, when we spotted killer whales! It turned out to be the T124D family of whales hanging with a guest T065A5. T065A5 “Indy” is quite the interesting little whale and is known for traveling on his own and often meeting up with other families other than his own.
The highlight of the weekend though, was a Dall’s porpoise encounter we had on Saturday’s tour.We encountered a group of these curious little critters, and they zoomed over to the boat, and rode in our bow wake, very similar to how dolphins do!
We hope you will join us for a spring whale watching adventure!
