March 31 – April 6

We had a wonderful week of tours this week and some (mostly) awesome weather. Lots of sunshine this week!

We saw orcas on 2 of our 4 tours this week with visits from the T046B and T137 families of Bigg’s killer whales , and whales on all 4. We had a couple of wonderful encounters with humpback and gray whales.

This week, for the first time we got to meet the brand new calf, T046B3A! This tiny little nugget of a calf was swimming alongside mom, T046B3 “Sedna” in San Juan Channel where we met up with them on Saturday’s tour. This brand new calf was so much fun to watch, as it is still learning to swim, its surfacing’s are a little bit awkward, in the cutest way possible.

We also had an encounter on friday’s tour with a humpback whale named “Schooner.” It was awesome to see Schooner make a return to the Salish Sea, as he only has half of a tail. Sadly, this whale lost half of its tail flukes, sometime in the summer of 2024, most likely from a ship strike. Just 6 weeks ago, Schooner was spotted in Maui, so it was an amazing story of resilience to see this whale have successfully completed the swim across the Pacific ocean with only half of its tail.

We hope to see you soon for a whale watching adventure!
